[Responded] Avara's curse kills you when swapping decks

Just got out of a fight with the cabalist Avara. He cursed me just before or while I was swapping decks. When I finished switching, I instantly died. Combat log showed my full hp was taken in damage.

My expectations are 0 damage since I'm not using any focus.

 

@golruul, swapping decks uses focus unless you're actually doing it in the deck window. hence the quick swapping skill in the focus tree, which reduces the focus used to swap decks.

 

Hmm, ok. My quick swapping skill is 40 I think. Swapping decks took out all of my life (492). I'm not familiar with torpid torment, so I don't know how much damage it should be doing. Wiki says +1 damage per focus, but I don't know how/if that scales. Is 492 health damage upon swapping decks reasonable?

I'm actually asking because I don't know how this works.

It is described as "huge amounts of damage". Avara is a real beast and can still kill me quite easily if I am not careful. Some Cabalists are easier to take down than others. I can easily see this happening. Those with over 600 HP can only use a tad bit of mana (if they do so) and need to find other ways to counter it. There are a few ways but it depends on your group set up. See if purify helps you out any.

Hmm, ok then, guess it's intended and not a bug.

I actually don't have an issue with the curse in general and do actually use purify to get rid of it. I just didn't know if this was supposed to be happening on a deck swap. I don't even know if I actually lose focus on swapping (I'll have to pay attention next time), but I'll make sure to not ever swap from now on against Avara.

 

Avara's curse is 5 dmg per focus spent, so its pretty harsh. With your hp, yes thats going to kill you if your not careful

And when I switched decks, I noticed about 100 of my focus was lost. So, just enough to kill me outright.
