    MANY months ago my husband and i were working on quests together and one of them was the "take lord drumplemouth's key" quest in aerie. he talked to him first and decided to fight him for the key. after that i went to talk to him to get the key and he now responds to me everytime that i should leave before he calls the guards BUT i never got the key from him. today (dec 22, '21) i was in aerie again and decided to see if i could finish the quest. he still responds with i should leave before he calls the guards and i still dont get the key. so i can not finish the quest because i can not get his key.

    he still had the blue sparkle effect directing me to him as a person i need to talk to for a quest and the quest is still in my jounral telling me to get the key from him.

    You should be able to progress in the quest, although you now only have one option instead of a choice.
    Because Lord Drumplemouth now considers you an enemy (and won't speak to you), the only way you can get the key from him is to kill him and loot the key from his body.
