Title: Player Visibility Issue
Reproduction Rate: (Zoned in and out/ logged in and out on both sides, added each other as freinds, joined a party. Then zoned out and back in...)
Blocker: Yes
Details: Two players were not able to see each others avatars in game (exist in the same instance) despite many different combinations of Multiplayer/Friend/Party options.. Before the log starts Catt Appolt added me, Easar Togita, and the log starts ..

This is a subject that can get confusing real fast, and there are several scenarios that could have caused multiple instances to occur, even in the same mode. I will try to keep this brief for simplicity:
The key thing to do when this happens is have the person who can't see the others zone out to the world map, then click on the shield of the person. As long as all are in the same mode (FO or multi) this should work every time IF you are in the same build. (Someone will need to patch if the builds are different.)
Also, if you are never really sure if you are in the same instance be sure to use 'nearby players' (keypad zero). I hope this helps.

Edit: I forgot to mention the being on the same build part...

In this case, you and the other player where playing on different versions of the game client. There is a message that appears during the load screen that indicates this condition. It can be easy to miss the message if you aren't looking for it. We will investigate an improvement to the UI to make this situation clearer.

That was probably the issue, I'd just logged in just after 610 was release, and I think Catt was in long before that. I don't know if he ever exited out to relaunch the update client or not.
