    You could use gdb, but its often not an easy process..

    I love you all my chickadees, but if I had to work 7 days a week I'm pretty sure none of you would like me! :eek:

    Please try to stick to one thread, otherwise it may seem like we are starting from square one. But let's start from here since we're here now.
    I've referred your prior post to some linux folks and they were kinda stumped. I don't know how to answer your question just yet.
    Can you tell me what you have done so far to troubleshoot?
    I'm sorry, I am not used to seeing issues quite like this.

    Lexie,

    I have since fixed that problem with the blanked pop up window when I started the launcher, this one is a new one.

    I have done reloading the launcher software, deleting the directory where the launching files are and reloading it... deleting the pref files even copying a working copy of SotA from another machine. All of that getting the same messages...

    My feeling is that something in my system is really doing a real number in that whenever I start the launcher, it blows up with the same messages.

    I like to know where the "There is no data folder" message is is being printed from.

    As for what I am going to do is, since I have done everything in my home directory that I can do, I'm going to reload the OS and since Fedora just come out last week, I'm going to install the new release soon.

    And sorry for bothering you devs about this issue.

    @Knight Dozer Belador which anti virus are you using - have you tried temporarily disabling it? there are a couple that seem to view the fact the launcher is a torrent as a bad thing.

    Liz,

    On a Linux system? There is no virus scanning on this PC.

    Liz,

    No. I do wish that there is some kind of high level tracing built in the game. Using gdb requires that has to know what to trace.

    think he meant a local stack trace, not a networking traceroute.

    Aye, thats why I suggested gdb, which would trace all these things, but it seems to be pushed aside

    Ok... did some digging and this is the problem...

    stat("/home1/jzc/shroud-of-the-avatar/StandaloneLinuxUniversalPatcher/Data/data.unity3d", 0x7ffe15cfb030) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
    access("/home1/jzc/shroud-of-the-avatar/StandaloneLinuxUniversalPatcher/Data/data.unity3d", F_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
    write(1, "There is no data folder\n", 24There is no data folder
    ) = 24
    munmap(0x7fc45c645000, 1052672) = 0
    munmap(0x7fc45c244000, 4198400) = 0
    munmap(0x7fc45cb47000, 8392704) = 0
    munmap(0x7fc460634000, 1052672) = 0
    getpid() = 18980
    exit_group(1) = ?
    +++ exited with 1 +++

    What it should have done... is do a stat for the next directory down.. llike this...

    stat("/home1/jzc/shroud-of-the-avatar/StandaloneLinuxUniversalPatcher/

    Then the access... how did I determine that?

    I move the StandaloneLinuxUniversalPatcher/ directory up the tree... to be like this...
    /home1/jzc/StandaloneLinuxUniversalPatcher/

    And yep... it started right up...

    So the patcher has a bug in that it does not properly go to the base directory of where the patcher program is... It should have go down as many levels it takes to get to where the patcher program started from
