the sota-Launcher (standalone SotA) has some different files than the steam installation of SotA-

so steam detects there are wrong files and discards the standalone ones, and steam mostly downloads near the full game everytime (update, check systemfiles etc...) so i think that has something to do with how the files are packed together for the steam installation...

(SotA Updates for standalone are much much smaller than steam updates...)

I spent the diskspace for 2 seperate installations one steam - one standalone
that works fine and you can use both simultanously....

Any chance the developers could fix that?

Yes, steam will re-download if it detects a problem. I've had it happen when I had an internet hiccup right when it was patching. doh.
Keep in mind, there are going to be situations when you will want to re-install if there is a corrupt file. It can prevent a lot of heartache and frustrations down the road when the game later has a weird glitch that seemingly isn't happening to anyone else...
I do hope this is a single occurrence for you, @Sonja If this becomes a larger issue we'll see what we can do. :)
