[This only seems to work with animals and not mobs.]
There is an Elder Timber Wolf that spawns nearby this rock. If you aggro him and pull him over, he will keep you targeted and try to attack you but won't damage you and can attack him but you won't damage him. However, if you root the wolf then you can damage the wolf. (This seems to just be an issue with animals and not people mobs.) I'm not sure how much of an issue this is, except it might be a big deal with things like dragons or multiple animals, like the bears in Deep Ravenswood. He does need to be rooted for the spell to do damage.
Steps to Reproduce:
- I was using melee attacks to test this.
1) Aggro the wolf
2) Run to the rock
3) Jump up.
4) The wolf may stop before it reaches the rock and won't attack you and you can't attack it. If that happens, jump off and position the wolf so that it is near enough for you to attack.
5) Cast Root on the mob.
6) You should now be able to attack it and damage it. Eventually you'll kill it.
