This appears to be resolved in live server R109. I am not seeing the flying fish anymore.

Looks like this issue is back again (i think it must be an intermittent issue):

I can't repro this. It's not happening for me.

There's a squat, rectangular "box" volume under the water, away from the shoreline, in which a school of fish is swimming. The fish in your screenshot is a bit far outside their box, both above it and to one side.

If other players are seeing this issue or something similar, please let me know and give any extra details you can think of.

If it keeps happening, and I can't figure out how to fix it, I might need to remove the fish.

I am not sure if this will help, but the fish swims out over the water and over the land. (i think it is trying to evolve into an amphibian :D). Although it does a few switchbacks, the overall course is like a big oval/circle around the obsidian docks (see red path in pic below; the scale in terms of distance from the dock is relatively accurate):

Also, I am not 100% sure, but i think both times i saw the flying fish, it occurred after I had been in the zone for around 30 minutes or more, so maybe it's a small error that accumulates over time ,causing the fish to gradually rise in altitude, eventually bringing it above the water?

Although I have not been in vikland nearly as much lately, I have not seen this issue again.
Since I could not figure out how to trigger it, the issue may be difficult to reproduce.
Perhaps this can be marked as "likely fixed"

Not fixed, fishy is happily swimming above the water and the beach after today's release.

HOW is that fish able to get so HIGH?!? These fish are exasperating. I did some bigger alterations with the last change to hopefully fix this. I have no idea why they are in the air. In the few places where he have other fish, do any of them fly out of the air for you in those locations, too?

*Sigh* The funny things is, I actually replaced the old Vikland fish with ones from another scene that seem to always work correctly. Guess we can't trust any of these fish. They might be too broken. I'll have to think about removing them. :(
