Salvaging: Losing items I try to place to salvage

Ok, so this is one of those moments when I start to question whether or not I am losing it...so don't poke fun. ;P

Activity: Salvaging wood or metal items.

Problem: Three times in the last week I was salvaging stuff and noticed that things went "missing". I checked my "All Items" Inventory tab. I checked my bank. Nothing in either.

Steps to reproduce (I won't try again):

1. Use Blacksmith Station +5 in Serenite crafting area.
2. Highlight items in "Your Inventory". Click on one item, hit SHIFT, click on last item. One of these items I specifically recall is a Rusty Helm.
3. Click the highlighted items to drag them up to "Crafting Inventory."
4. Notice I picked up "Small Square Jar" so I think I made a mistake. Jar is in Crafting Inventory.
5. Click on Jar to drag it back down, but as I do that I notice the Rusty Helm is not in "Your Inventory", nor are the 4-5 other items I thought I picked up.
6. Exit out of Blacksmith Station, check inventory. Nothing there. Check bank. Nothing there.

I did not get a message about dropping any items.

This happened twice when using the Crafting Station +5 in Serenite, and I thought I just made a mistake and lost my items.

What did I do? Where are my items? Or is this a bug?
