    This isn't going to help.

Not only will it not help, but when users come to the forums to complain about losing functionality from their purchase, getting told "you should have RTFM" will just piss them off even more and make the situation worse. With the current way this is implemented there is no positive user experience in the final outcome -- either they discover they unexpectedly lost functionality or they bought something that they can't actually use (because they would lose functionality).

The only solution here is to either retain the functionality or have some very obvious, non-skippable in-game click-through that informs users they will be losing functionality if they proceed.

They do, it's called 'Player Instructions'. Which people don't read. (BTW, there is a section that is indented, italicizied, and has Important in bold and italics with an exclamation mark behind it that mentions what happens with regard to pvp. Unfortutunately it doesn't mention that you lose the extra little functionality features. @DarkStarr)

Even if there was a FAQ, people still wouldn't read it. The only sure way is to put that knowledge into the game world when they are about to do something they may get regret. Hints probably wouldn't be enough to prevent it from happening again. The knowledge needs to be given to people in real time.

I didn't know about it. Alot of us are coming back to the game now it's been released, and didn't read the forums or watch livestreams in the interim.
