Seeing yourself while stealthed on the map

I have a really hard time seeing where I'm at on the overland map while stealthed during the day. This causes me to miss bridges, run off the path, etc. It's easier to see yourself on some terrain compared to others, but paths are particularly difficult.

I use mouse-look and it has a reticle right above my head (as long as I'm holding down the right house button), so I always know where I am.

 

I've had reticle turned off for a long time since I use cursor mode, but I tried this today and it's a pretty decent workaround. Even if you're in cursor mode, you can just target yourself or move to get the reticle to pop up on the map. Boots of skulking are a lot more useful when you don't skulk into a river.
