Should vendors also have a rental function?

The majority of backers are in the lower pledge ranges and don't get tax free vendors and there's only going to be a limited number of them to begin with. So whatever effect they will have on the economy from renting out wouldn't be much different than what effect they would have anyway.

 

That's a good point but I'm sure they will be for sale at some point when pledge rewards are released. So a player who is really into being a merchant might snap them up for less than the pledge level. It might entice someone to step up their pledge, if they knew they could get something for the vendor they didnt want??

What other negative effects could you see coming out of it?

So what are you guys thinking of in relevance to UO. Instead of vendor rental deed's, a plot owner in stead takes a Rented/Owned npc vendor and places him and then sub contracts him out to the other player?

I really like the thought of this so a plot owner could be the one responsible for dressing and placing the npc to his liking. Unlike in UO where you had to try and get the renter of the npc to dress the vendor and face him the right way if you had a vendor mall in which you wanted them all to look the same and facing certain ways.
