    Hello there,

My isp throttles bittorrent and like traffic into the stone age.
Is there a way to directly patch my game? Is there an argument where
I can tell my patcher to directly download it from one source?

    I'm throttled to 477 KB/s, thank you!

i do wish there was a direct https download option.

on some networks, it would be faster to download a full install that way than just a patch via torrent.

i bet @BurningToad could give you a direct path, though he probably wouldn't want it shared around too much.

Yes torrent traffic is being throttled on a lot of ISP's. Because they are assholes without knowledge.
Not thinking about that there is also LEGAL torrent traffic on the internet....

You could link your account to steam and then steam will update your client. I have heard though steam updater is less efficient as it can not patch parts of files, so patches can be a bigger size download from steam. No idea if this is true, i don't use steam.

Steam patches are significantly larger - I've seen patches that are only a few hundred meg become over a gig on the steam client.

I'm not sure, but I suspect the patcher has an option to support SSL connections only. Most BitTorrent access libraries do support it. You could also open the Torrent file in a different client that supports that restriction, such as Transmission. (Transmission is my favorite Bittorrent client for many things. I also like qTorrent and kTorrent, but they are a bit heavier on the UI.)
