    Hello!

I just started SotA, being an Ultima fan from way back, and I've already run into a problem. I finished the tutorial on the Isle of Storms and started the Path of Love. After entering the rift, I started next to a boat, walked up a hill, and went down a bridge, fighting undead. I met Edvard, and he asked me to escort him across the now empty bridge. He took me back to the boat, gave me 10,000 EXP, and told me to head to town via the boat. Thinking I must have missed something, I looked online and found out that there were supposed to be several quests associated with the bridge, and that Edvard was supposed to point out things on the bridge. It looks like I started at the end of the Battle of Solace Bridge, rather than the beginning. Am I missing something?

This is a worry, others will have something specifically useful to say to assist you no doubt, but the starter tutorials are brand new this release and the cross over into the first adventure and quest related content (the outskirts), had therefore to be radically amended particularly Solace Bridge, as it used to contain the tutorial elements. I think @Sannio in particular may be interested in this.

And welcome to the game. :)

Incidentally How did you find tbe tutorial (was it helpful, confusing, intuitive, flowing, good intro to basic mechanics, missing obvious stuff?)

The next point of confusion and frustration you will encounter, or have already in a way, is tbe Quest system. It is badly broken, but usable and planned for a complete replacement system for episode 2 of tbe game during 2019, but for now you will have to make the best of it and it is entirely doable to complete the 3 paths and final chapter 1 story quest in the existing system. At which point you get your free property deed and your Shroud cloak.

SOTA imo is a unique and super fun game, but still needs some polish which it is getting, slowly, so do stick with it.

Oh, so my main problem is one of my timing in starting the game... oh well. The tutorial in the Isle of Storms was a good starter, but I didn't find it very comprehensive. It looks like the missing Battle at Solace Bridge quests may have had more in them. I went to the online user guide to fill in the blanks, but I still have a ways to go. I'll try again tomorrow and report back. The tutorial's not fresh in my head right now; I was definitely having some trouble following the kid's instructions, so I'll run it again and also try skipping the tutorial and see what happens.

    Thanks!

    Yes, it seems broken today.
Husband just made a new char & had the same issue.
You are meant to start at the other end of Solace Bridge Battle, near the broken Lunar Rift.
He managed to jump over the wall, ran to other end of the village to start the quest.

Hi all! I'd like to clarify that players should NOT start the Battle of Solace Bridge at the boat. You should be starting that scene at the lunar rift. We'll be looking into this bug. (It's entered as issue #62639)

OK, I started over and followed Synergy Blaize's advice and jumped over the gate to get to the village. It looks like a lot of things are covered by the hints, so I think that the starting tutorial was mostly adequate. I think the hotbar tutorial could be more expansive, perhaps including information about swapping hotbars and modifying them, but with some monkeying around (and help from online), I was able to figure it out without much trouble.

I do have one thing that's bugging me a bit - I haven't seen anything about it yet in the user guides, etc., but is it possible to toggle the freelook so I don't have to keep holding the right mouse button? I've only spent a couple hours at the game so far, and my hand is already sore.

Looking forward to spending a lot more time in New Britannia; Ultima was (and is) my favorite series of all time, and it'll be good to get back into a similar groove.
I have to say, I'm very impressed so far with the art direction, and the music so far is a real contributor!

    Thanks for the replies!

It looks like I’ll have to start a new character just to enjoy the new user experience. I wish it were possible to credit at least some of the loot and XP to my main account when I delete that character.

I am happy with the default setting, but I "think" there is a way to enable freelook.
I don't want to lead you up the garden path by guessing :p

Hopefully, someone who does actually know the answer, will be along soon.

Safe & Fun Travels to you on your new Adventures in Shroud.

I think the tab button is default for switching between mouse cursor mode and free look. I'm at work though, so I'm not able to check for sure.
