South Drachvald Spur Preview!

Here's some early shots of our progress on South Drachvald Spur.

This is a Tier 2 scene, fashioned after steppe-land and inspired by Mongolia, as well as the fantasy 'Wickan' race of peoples (a nod to one of my favorite writers, Steven Erikson). Without giving too much away.. this area was once peopled with a horse-loving culture, evidence of which can be seen in the carved and half-carved horse sculptures in and around the natural rock formations. Those people are long gone, but their rituals seem to retain some amount of power, in that the spirits of the descendants of their proud steppe-ponies are in danger. (All background fluff, with a puzzle implemented by @PlagueOfLocust !)

The bell tower really reminded me of some long ago civilization gone to ruin.

 

ah, i was specfically going to ask about palominos! i think they went missing with the herding encounter changes.

@PlagueOfLocust I have a question though and perhaps you could shed some light... This area is North of Vaubaun Pass.. and there is no player starting in this area. Other then players teleporting or paying 1500g for passage.. How are these new players going to get past a T5 Control Point to adventure in a T2 Scene? And giving the cost of going back and forth...why would they?

It just seems an odd placement for low tier scene.

@Aartemis I agree that the location is a little strange for a lower tier scene; these circumstances are somewhat incidental I think, resulting from elements of overworld planning that changed over time while others did not (putting it broadly). However, should a lower-level player find themselves north of Vauban Pass for any of a number of reasons (joining friends, sneaking/dashing through the control point, etc.), South Drachvald Spur will give them something to do.
