I would like to be a ranged/caster could i go with Ranged/Fire/Death?

 

I actually ran a similar build from alvl 70 till about 80. I was using ranged/fire and doing ok with it. It even gave me a false sense of efficiency for a while. One of the nice things about sota is you can make pretty much everything work to a point.

I wouldn't recommend hybrid builds at all anymore. Specialised builds do things more efficiently in most cases but if that playstyle is what makes you happy it can work. I'd stay away from death in a hybrid build though and use other forms of healing.

You can be an effective bow user with magic thrown in, most use fire or earth.
In higher tiers you will focus on one but you can be effective enough in booth to be worthwhile.
Study magic trees closely and ask people, then decide what suits your playstyle, my take is that if you use bow the offensive magic is not your best choice (you have already lots of that with bow)
do not focus solely on one magic school, look at two or three closely and use from each, make one your main focus that suits you best.

I use four magic schools and specialyse one beside bow.

 

healing an bow is meh, your heals are less effective after fighting for like 20 seconds or so so you are not an outstanding healer...

for healing as a mage is good in a group but use potions on yourself and train in other magic trees.
pay close attention to the spells though they do not all go together like emolation in the fire tree and death shield one will cancel out the other.

and I feel a disturbance in the force is this for good or bad in time we will see.
