Boars can knockdown and stun. Bears can knockback and knockdown. Unicorns and Nightmares have an AoE attack. Spiders can poison and web.

Wolves really need an upgrade to keep up and give them a role as pets.

The light armor specialization bonus to Escape gave me an idea - give wolves the ability to escape from a trap (root, web etc) with their own escape move.

And to top it off, give them stealth.

Right now, the worst thing to do when scouting a dangerous mob filled area is to bring a pet. It will aggro-magnet every mob in sight even if you yourself ate stealthed

Make wolves escape artists and the perfect companion for sneaking around. We need them :)

Potential idea for Wolves could be to have a "Howl" ability that boosts allies damage? Or even to have multiple howls. One to boost allies damage, one to heal allies or boost allies defenses.

Wolves are pack animals so howl fits right in!

The two headed wolf sounds like Cerberus, could be a possible mob boss.

One easy way they could fix wolves is to make their normal attack (The two weak bite hits) actually do good damage. It's unfair that other pets have multi hit attacks that scale with their normal hits (Example: Wolf's multi hit does 39-50, Bear's deals 70-90). Then increase their attack speed: Make them the single target damage pet.

Then, give their pounce attack some additional effect, like knockback, knockdown, or "Stagger" the target for a short time, interrupting castings or making them more vulnerable to damage.

It's definitely an improvement on what wolves have now :) Wouldn't mind a rend-like effect either for that matter.

Wolves are like blades as Bears are like bludgeons.

I really hope wolves get a niche of their own soon:

    for example:

You take bears for high health and high damage output, plus the knockback is just gravy.

You take boars for their high health, decent armor, stun knockback, and fantastic tanking ability.

You take wyverns for their high damage, poison damage, strength debuff, and focus degeneration.

You take equinines for their high health and cone attacks.

You take young dragons for their ranged attacks.

You take spiders for their scaling poison damage, web ability, and good tanking ability.

    etc, etc.

I need to look into boar pets :)

Love the way my wolf pets can keep up with me even with my light armor speed innates. Here's to hoping wolves get a boost soon.

It seems like Wolves have somewhat faster movement speed and have a higher than average dodge chance.

Will need to keep using my destroyer to make sure.

I tested my elder wolf pet by stacking sprint on top of my light armor speed bonus. It had absolutely no problem keeping up with me. Had it right up my heels most of the time.

    Pathing seems pretty good too.

My fastest bear (large polar bear) still falls behind with just my light armor bonus. And the narrower the pathway. the more difficulty it has keeping pace.

And just to add to my post above - though the bears are nowhere as near fast as the wolves, the large polar bear is faster than it's more powerful bear kin for some reason. Aside from being slower my obsidian bear's pathing seems worse compared to the way the polar bear weaves through obstacles.

I suspect that bulk plays a big part in how good a pet navigates through obstacles. Even a relatively small difference may be a big factor once the pet reaches a certain size.

I don't see too many issues with my arachnids or Razorback destroyer pathing. Though I typically don't use my razorback much anymore, since when hunting destroyers it's the only pet that seems to cause its target to randomly regenerate health after the stun.

I'm hoping that there will be some updates to summons (it's only fair, can't have taming be the dominant pet force).

I think someone mentioned having the Focus specialization buff all the nonundead summons?
