Greeting again Master farmers. Many of you have questions on how to stack in the basement. I want to share with you on how to maximize your indoor/basement deco limit by using a little trick in stacking the stone blocks.

    Requirement:
    1) Blocks of Rough Stone 1x1x1
    2) Blocks of Rough Stone 1x4x4
    3) Planting Pots

Ensure to use the R key to lay down the stone.

STEP 1: Lay the 1x1x1 between the two 1x4x4. Do no rotate any blocks or they don't stack up correctly.

STEP 2: Stack the third 1x4x4 over the 1x1x1 block. You have to be gentle with the mouse because it is not easy to find the center-balance point.

STEP 3: Remove the two side blocks 1x4x4.

This is the result. To move the blocks, always grab the bottom 1x1x1 block.

STEP 4: Lay out your pots in this formation.

STEP 5: Grab the bottom 1x1x1 block and drop it in the middle of the pots formation. Put down another pot to cover the opening area.

STEP 6: Put more pots on top of the 1x4x4, and Repeat Step 1 - Step 5.

This is your final product with three tiers. If you have a low ceiling, best to go with two tiers.

Here is an example of how my basement look in my City Stone Basement. Since I don't have a high ceiling, I can only stack two tiers. This leave room for me to walk on top of the structure to sow/water/harvest.

    Enjoy and happy farming!

Are there specific crops that grow just fine in a basement?

No different growing any crops from your basement. The time is just 10x slower.

I have just tried this and the stacking works. The problem I have is not being able to "water" the plants, and yes I did ensure I had buckets of water in my inventory and that the plants needed water.

Stacking techniques were fixed a while back if I recall (jump to Alley Oop posting a quote from the patch notes). If two waterable plots are one above the other, the bottom one wont get water.

lol! they CAN be watered, but there's a minimum clear distance that has to be between them. basically, you need enough space to walk under the upper one in order to water the lower one. that still does leave some stacking possibilities, so rather than the patch notes you get one of @Mac2's videos.
