The live game server is down (resolved)

    it went down around 7:30 AM NBT (CDT) and @Ravalox went to the data center and swapped a power supply. The game was back up around 9 AM, but was down again half an hour later, so he turned around to go back again. Further updates pending.

    (QA is up and the last db backup for live completed successfully.)

    Ok, back from my tour of the highway between Scottie's house and the Datacenter...

    Server outage was caused by failed hardware:

    One of the redundant power supplies was in a soft failure, I replaced both of the power supplies with onsite cold spares. (that was the first visit).
    When the server failed again, I found that the raid controller on the Game Server had failed, so I replaced the Game Server board.

    After monitoring for an hour, I headed back to Scottie's house. I will continue to monitor. @Undone and I still have plans to do some work at the datacenter this week, I will post details in the forum and an MOTD when we firm up a day and time.
