I get a lot of complaints when using soothing rain to heal because the visual effects are so over the top that players can not see anything else. Please consider toning it down a bit.

but a localized torrential downpour is so soothing....

less rain/haze, add a couple flowers/vines sprouting up...

Don't nerf it. It is a useful skill for visually blinding opponents in pvp

So abuse something that other people have problem with seeing through, and not make it fair for everyone?

i see both sides of that..

in pvp it is a useful tactic, in pve that specific part of the tactic is useless because it does not affect npc's that way.
solution: if pvp flag is on, make it the torrential downpour, if pvp flag is off, nerf the graphics of it to what i said above. - DEVS: just don't let that IF/THEN change be client-side because there'll be a hack for it at some point. maybe a secondary if/then for pvp flag on but no pvp flagged folks within a perimeter? could be a useful tool in open pvp, in detecting the presence of someone being stealthy. :)

Why not just make a new skill with the purpose of visually blinding while actually fixing this skill?

This is definitely the best option, as long as it also affects NPCs.

    i like both equally though, @Noric :)

i like having the ability to have multiple uses for a single skill, be it strategic or tactical needs.
i also like having some skills be singular in use, but this leads too much into 'specialization' and 'classes' that the game is trying to lean away from.

I just think that a single skill solution that maintains both uses is going to be hard to implement.
Is the pvp flag based on skill user or others? What do you do with people that pve while flagged?

my second if-then recommendation above was directed at that - if no other pvp flagged folks are around, nerf the visual, but if they are in the proscribed distance, don't nerf it.. if you are paying attention you'd notice the differnece and pucker up for a fight. :)

the brightness of all the heals needs a tone down, healing grace gives me a headache ..... usung the fog from soothing rain to confuse your enemies is more than sufficient.

And if you are farming with other flagged individuals? I know party mechanics can be used but what about situations where more than one party is present?

(Sorry I like to play devil's advocate)

as do i - only way to get to the devil in the details. *grin*

as it is not a skill that does damage, it would still notice that the other flagged person is near so i t would be the torrent..
uuless if a third if/then were to be there - if that other flagged person is grouped with you, then they are friendly to you...

which brings up another pvp thing unrelated to the OP (should a pvp flagged person in your group simply be friendly fire instead of aggro?)

at some point though, too many if/then's for perfection will cause the lag monster to rear its ugly head.. and that is where i leave it up to the devs to do their maths and tell us 'don't you worry your pretty little heads about it, we got this!"

Well I'm thinking of situations like dragon hunts- I've heard of 2-3 groups going after it. I feel that an AoE heal would be particularly popular there and nerfing visibility or excluding pvpers sounds like a poor compromise.

i agree - and my nerfing comment was about the graphics not the utility, of the skill. in pvp the graphics IS the utility, but in pvp, the graphics is NOT the utility of it, in this case at least.

ok, so raids - meaning multiple groups of folks banding together to kill a bossmob of types...

that could be an overlay system/mechanic where everyone is working for the greater good (..."the greater good...") - and skills like this would be treated as everyone is pve so they all get the benefit while not getting the obtrusive pvp graphics.

I guess that could work - but I do think it is a lot of trouble to go to for the goal of giving a single skill multiple uses :p

it all depends on how they wanna go about it, whichever htey fell is right and best. honestly, both would work - heck, both would 'feel right' to different folks anyway.

When I have Healing Grace on, it's so bright (and opaquely bright) that I usually can't see anything else around me. It's annoying, but it's also funny.
