Tree/forest feedback for overland map

    I know the overland map will be enhanced and what we see is just a first iterarion. But weren't the trees one of the performance problems and the devs therefore had to reduce the density?

    What if the forests would not be created with individual trees but with a model that looks like many trees combined? There could also be individual trees standing around here and there as well as at the edges of forests but forests itself would consist of one or more of those "forest-elements".

    Similar to here, you can see that forests and woods do not consist of individual trees (only) and still look really good and dense:

    I like your suggestion Lord_Darkmoon. The screenshot looks very good :) Maybe it will cause a design problem to travel through a model that looks like many trees combined instead of a bunch of single trees, but I'm sure this - hypothetical - problem is solvable.

    Maybe the silhouette of the Avatar could be visible when behind trees (and other objects).

    Yes, the Avatar should have the focus and not vanish behind the trees.

    I also like Lord Darkmoons approach.
