Troll in pass

the troll can be snuck past pretty reliably with silent movement. also, if you're in multi, there's always the chance you can run through when someone else has engaged it.

 

Actually, it doesn't but I discovered that smelling salts work really well.

Well, the area he inhabits is a mountain valley - a valley that allows you to traverse to the Perennial Coast Region (Ardoris, Solania, etc...) WITHOUT going thru either Brightbone Pass or Eastreach Gap.
The price you pay for "shortcutting" those 2 areas is that there's a troll encounter that's likely to grab you.

Dewd, not sure where you're getting your information from, but the trolls in that pass are not THAT powerful.

The troll in your way is not that troublesome...
If you don't want to stay and kill it (decent loot), then just run as fast as you can (pots/skills are nice for this) past him and out the other gate....
I mean, C'mon man..........

 

Silent movement isn’t even essential. Just don’t go over the bridge. Run across the bottom of the valley.

Which location is this? The Troll in Nightshade Pass?

Just go down to the water, without even going near the fortress and... swim across. You never have to cross the bridge. I haven't walked that bridge in a long time.

its the mountain pass that used to not have the troll in it near sawtooth thicket, now has a troll that brings an instance with 2 trolls either end of a bridge but you can run down and across the valley at a low level

 

no, not the one in nightshade pass. that troll is not on the overworld. there are trolls in the ruined keep, the epitaph, south broken road, vertas pass, the rise, ravensmoor, penmawr island, more than one of the pvp scenes... the one in question is guarding the mountain pass just northeast of aldhaven.

 

ah, now i understand what you meant by the valley. avoiding the trolls once you're in the scene is not the same as avoiding the encounter alltogether, which i can usually do with silent movement.

 

it's not about the trolls, it's about the loading screens.

 

The biggest issue with the troll, I find, is how he's got a better stealth than I do; the bugger can go UNDERNEATH the ground.
