unable to interact with lord marshal automaton servant

I can't seem to interact with the automaton servant.. mouse cursor doesn't highlight when I mouse over him and I'm on the character that owns him?

Details: I can't seem to interact with the automaton servant.. mouse cursor doesn't highlight when I mouse over him and I'm on the character that owns him?
Steps to Reproduce: I'm trying to do this in my basement.. can't get him to talk. Sure would be cool of automatons could communicate to each other through an automaton network of some sort! Also would be cool if they were upgradable.
