Value of items

    If I buy an item for say 20 gp, the item shows up in my inventory with a value of 10 gp. This makes sense since vendors will buy stuff at a reduced price to make a profit. However, if I try to sell the item back to the vendor she will only give me 5 pg!

    Why? This really seems unfair. I feel that NPC vendors should always give you the value that is shown in your inventory, which is already half of what they sell the same items for.

    Because although the worth of the item may be 10gp, market demands may dictate otherwise and being a smart npc, she will always undercut you. Nasty cutthroats, they are.;)
