Vendors - Pathing / placement?

    I am trying to place my vendor at my gates so they face the entrance I cannot seem to get them exactly right and now the male is walking around? How is this set and how can we shut it off / turn on I see the two arrow in the box and would assume a back and forth means walking a double facing same static but???
