Current bonuses for pine (+2.5% magic crit chance) and maple (+5% spell damage) wands, double those for staves, get overwritten when upgrading the material type, e.g. a grey pine wand adds 1% damage avoidance while removing the +2.5% magic crit chance. What mage in their right mind would want anything but a basic pine or maple wand? Conclusion: 'special' ingredients like sooty bark are anything but for wands and staves.

Possible Solution: stop overwriting the base bonus when using an enhancing material. This way the grey pine wand would have both the +2.5% magic crit chance AND the 1% damage avoidance.

Its not the problem of wands only its problem of whole lumber. Some bonus which made by very expensive lumber a completely useless.
