I am contemplating buying a Knights pledge but would like some clarification on the land house and lighthouse.

Do you have to pick one or the other or can you place both?

You will own both, but can only place one home per lot. So you would need two lots to place two homes, and the Knight pledge only comes with one tax-free deed.

Only one. For now. At the last Deep Dive Housing, they acknowledged the wording on the pledges could be interpreted as being able to place both a waterfront house and land house simultaneously, and are considering doing just that in the future.

Closely related to this is the fact that a lot is either a water lot or a land lot.

So, you'll have both houses in your inventory, but if you choose a water lot, you will only be able to place the lighthouse.
Likewise, on a land lot, you'll only be able to place the knight's keep.

Or, similarly for other water and land based houses.

You could place the cabana water house on a village sized lot. There would be all the water houses available for knight pledge level and lower pledges with water based house options.

You get either the water lot or the land lot with one pledge. It would take 2 knight pledges to have a lighthouse on one side of the path, and a knights keep on the other side. That and luck with lot selection.

They lawyered us using the words they did to describe having waterfront property. That was well crafted lawyer speak. Many interpreted it to mean we can place both, but they have the out by saying "Oh it doesn't really say that, you misinterpreted it". Far too many people "misinterpreted" it then. This issue was the first issue that tarnished my view of Portalarium's image in my mind.

We wouldn't even have this thread if it were written plainly. That shouldn't be too hard.

It seems the easy road was taken instead of delivering what was promised.

I wouldn't mind knowing just how rare they intend waterfront lots to be, and which tiers will actually have a shot at placing them.

The Edelmann cabana is nice, but I can't help but wonder if anyone at that tier will actually get a chance to place it.

I would expect most of the Royal Founders will place water property before any Founder gets a chance. The benefit of risking the investment back in Kickstarter

Anyone who has a chance to grab a water plot should. Once boat travelling becomes implemented, water lots from episode one will increase in value.

True, but doubling the land area in episode 2 would likely double the number of water lots, which would lower that value.

I suppose only time will tell. Personally I think plots near Brittany will be the most valuable for episode 1.

Why? Do you suspect you'll have to dock boats on house lots?

The big question to yourself is do I want a tax free water lot or a tax free land lot. I havent made up my mind yet
