I finally decided to test on QA and then on R52:
    QA R53:
Salvage L100, no potion, no blessing, expert crafting station:
500 Estocs: 2 hilts, 4 patterns, 6886 scrap -> decided to sell all in R52, not worth testing with potion
    500 Bows: normal strings: 2, Precision: 1, Speed: 2, staves: 2+2, patterns 4, scrap 6867
Tried the bows with potion of reclamation + +5 bonus from blessing:
    500 bows: strings: 14, precision: 1, speed: 10, stave: 7+7, pattern: 25, scrap 7367
-> the potion did increase the normal+speed strings + patterns significantly (precision maybe just bad luck)

Decided to go forward outside QA in R52:
Salvage L100, expert crafting station, potion of reclamation + +5 bonus from blessing:
    1701 bows: strings 27, precision 29, speed 40, staves: 30+25, patterns 78, scrap 25.754

Compared to QA: way less normal strings, way more precision, rest in line

Result from QA: you need the potion (5 strings -> 25)
My average: ~ 56,4 strings per 1000 bows

Thank you for the test StarLord.

I always say the potion is the key... but they should make the skill better than potion imo. Not a very good design decision they made.

well, they probably wont ever make the skill better than the potion -- thats the 'applied skill' vs skill level difference, and thats been the rule for most modifiers for a long time now, right? Take +AL or +stat differences for example.

Lol... 500 estocs for 2 hilts and 4 patterns. Agreed that raising the yield might be smart as that is just ridiculous. Why would anyone salvage 500 swords for that?!?

Me, because i hunt in Grey and the pesky elves get in my way logging, so i get some extra income from selling scrap metal (and the occasional hilt)

You get way more selling the swords directly.
I still salvage low value items to get some scrap, but I guess its not worth it today as I get enough iron/copper ore while mining for tin/nickel/tungsten

My point is how much gold would one get by just vendoring the 500 swords instead?
