Today my wife an I watched the deep dive video about crafting in SotA.
We remembered that while I was playing my Braveheart character on Great Lakes in UO those days, my wife often spent hours on sewing and weaving in Britain.
I thought how great it would be if the crafting system would allow for individual cloth patterns like the Scottish clan tartans used e.g. for kilts.
I could imagine a loom which takes several yarns of different colors in an individual order which then creates a very individual pattern.
This cloth could then be used to make all the different clothes.

I am not sure how that would influence server performance, but what do you think about the idea in general?

I had thought about wanting tartans (I'm of Irish heritage - Belfast of County Down is where we traced our family line), but there could be legal issues - not just game issues.
Many tartans, although hundreds of years old, are "copyrighted" by their respective clans and reproducing them within virtual space has caused issues for games & content creators within certain virtual communities (Second Life, IMVU and others). Without gaining "direct permission" from a clan's leadership, the hosting virtual entity could find itself in some hot water - not sure if Portalarium wants to get into that. Generic plaids (not claimed by a clan [Scott] or county [Irish]) may be created and used without permission - but creating a plaid, naming that plaid, and calling it a tartan plaid is very serious business.

I had thought to submit a custom plaid pattern for registration to be unique for certain reasons I won't get into - perhaps Lord British might thing of something similar for Portalarium/himself? hmmmm...
