    With so many medieval rock links, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Blackmores' Night by now. It's not my cup of tea, but Ritchie Blackmore, guitar god of Deep Purple and Rainbow fame, has a band thats been doing renaissance -- periodish to a degree -- originals since 1997. The band, with or without Blackmore as the frontman deserves mention in this thread.

    I don't think I could ever pick one piece, but for now, I'll say my pretend theme song is Niccolo Paganini's 24th Caprice, but only when performed by the legendary Itzhak Perlman. Its a extremely difficult and exciting violin solo (the last of 24) composed during the romantic era.
