Why Do We Need a White Reticle?

    I notice I run around a lot with a white reticle over my head.

    White reticle means I am targeting nothing.

    If I am targeting nothing, why do I need a reticle?

    As is, it is just a distraction. It is an immersion breaking 'X' over my Avatar's head. It is not telling me much that I do not already know. Mostly I know when I am not targeting anything.

    Could the reticle just turn on when blue, green or red, but be invisible when 'white'? No reticle would tell me the same thing as a white reticle, no?

    That's an interesting alternative to just hide it completely.

    It should definitely disappear as soon as we leave combat mode...... No need for it beyond - that (and even - that - is still suspect, IMO)...
