Why does pet summoning fail?

there seems to be no logic to a pet not heeding the call.
most times i have to swap around pets to find one that will summon.
is there any information on pet summon fails?
the fail happens with level 24 pets and level 44 pets equally. even the level 1 wolf i had failed.
i am on flat ground with no aggro around me, btw.
this happens alot in many places.

 

Not to insult anyone's intelligence, but these are the only reasons I know:
1. Check your cool down. Summoning has a long cool down.
2. I've had pets not summon when there is not enough room for them (like trying to summon in front of a wall).
3. Your pet is dead. Bring it to the mortuary in Spite to say goodbye.

Otherwise, my pets summon 100% of the time.

 

Screenshot of your pet whistle when it isn't summoning would probably help confirm if you have a timer or if pet is dead. Otherwise, not sure why it isn't working.

 

Check this posting on the refresh time in between summonings. It may help.

thanks for the replies, guys.
all of that has been checked. NO downtime left, big flat plain outside, my summon skill was 45 when i had the problem.
havent had problems with it lately.
i am just wondering why it would happen. all of the things you guys mentioned were covered.
also no dead pets. ahah
