Why were arena basement gates removed?

I've noticed that many (if not all) of the arena basement gates were removed recently (over the last few months) and I was wondering why?

I really liked that aspect of the arena basement lots because it allowed for more functionality and creative uses for the basements.

I realize that some exploits, like "trapping someone in your basement" were probably a concern, but I would hope that we could design around that.

Please add the arena basement gates back in.
