1. All post bodies concerning Shroud of the Avatar player to player transactions or services are limited to this section of the forums. Unwanted solicitation in other sections of the forums or via chat or private message is prohibited, and could result in account restriction or ban. Posting more than once per week within your own thread, "bumping" it to keep it on top, bumping within a week of the first post, and daily replacing a post with a new one is also considered spam and is therefore, prohibited. Bumping is allowed once per week, if the new post contains information that is meaningful to the original thread (i.e. price updates).

    Activities that involve real money exchanges between players are not allowed. Account transfers are not supported. Items purchased in the SotA Store, such as Pledge and Bundle Rewards, Add-Ons, Stretch-Goal items, and Player Owned Towns, as well as services that can be immediately fulfilled in-game (such as renting existing in-game property or items) are the only permitted exchanges in the Player Marketplace.

    We will not restrict exchange of goods but we will not officially endorse these exchanges due to liability issues and staffing bandwidth. No in-game or chat based real money exchanges are allowed. Exchanges are at the players own risk and governed by the Terms of Service of whatever third party platform. Catnip Games reserves the right to restrict any activities if they cause widespread issues for our community or if these activities involve exploits of any kind.

    but it is usually a little more expensive than if you can find someone in the forums.

    We can, I've traded a couple of those back when I had 'em. After a wipe, before logging in to the game you can Send as Gift to anyone.
    Or when you get them you send them to yourself and never claim them, that way you can 'Resend' to someone else when trading.

    Thank you guys for the replies, I had checked out http://www.realmwares.com/ and it is super expensive, especially if I was going to buy them all for my guild. I hope someone else will have them for cheaper. I'll keep looking.

    Cloaks are pretty hard to come by and a highly sought after item bc players can wear them.

    Might be tough to find a lot of them.

    Part of the problem with pre-alpha sales is that people don't really know how to price their items. In most cases I suspect people bought add-on store items that they want to use / keep; I don't see anyone selling an item because they are "bored" with it. Consequently, anyone selling at the moment is either looking for a profit or because they are forced sellers (need money for RL).

    How I'm viewing the contributing factors:

    Typical factors:
    • Many of the add-on store items have become rare so the supply is limited. Should be the biggest driver for pushing price up.
    • Sellers are fearful of selling now if they can wait for a higher price later. Unless a person is a forced seller they don't have a lot of incentive to sell right now.
      • Forced sales are typically on accounts which may include items, but it is rare to see it on individual items.
    Particular to SotA right now:
    • Selling the item is not as easy as it will be post launch -- need to possibly wait for a wipe.
    • Item sales are in dollars not in-game gold. This can change at launch.
    • Most sales are via the forum which we know is a limited proportion of the total market. The exact supply is not known, and difficult to "feel", which makes it hard to set a price.
      • Does that mean there is a huge supply of items (rare add-ons) being held by people that don't come to the forum? If so, can that supply "flood" the market at some point post-launch and push the price down?


    Keep searching and perhaps you will find a cheap one for sale here in the forums. There is a remote chance that price drops post-launch, but I really wouldn't bank on that.
