Yes, it's Wasteland 2. And it even has a 3D, animated overworld view ;)

How can that be? Stated design goals with crowd funding? Impossible. /sarcasm? or not.

You mean well thought out and executed versus patching as you go design?

    is it?

the original wasteland (and fallout) were isometric top down single player CRPGs, with an interactive world, turn based combat, and strong storyline.
in other words, the same kind of game as the early Ultimas. Which this is supposed to be a spiritual successor to.

Why doesn't SotA also have NPC portraits? Has anyone heard a developer mention them... if they will be in at some point?

This was a point brought up in the "Plea for the Single Player experience," thread and Richard said he and the team were aware of our concerns and on top of most of them. Let's hope portraits are one of the things on the agenda.

At what point did we ever say it wasn't going to happen? I distinctly recall saying I wanted to make it happen (in a post in the Dev+ forums) but it wouldn't be in this release.

It's very frustrating reading feedback threads on the day of a release to hear the same loudly argued opinions loudly argued again and again and again and again and again.
