Is it me, or is it pay to win

For my part I bought 5 Prosperity tools because I discovered I had a passion for crafting ( am spending more time crafting on the pre-alphas then adventuring). The imperishable quality of these tools is a convenience so I don't have to suddenly run out in the middle of a crafting session to buy a replacement.

The quality is a perk , just like LTI in SC. And you can't buy LTI in SC ingame either.

 

well I can safely assume that everyone who has pledged cares about if the game is made. You are not naive about that. But honestly do you think people would dish out thousands of dollars for nothing?

My turn to call shenanigans.

If you didn't want this game to happen, you would not have bothered to pledge. Simple as that. They could have promised you the ability to be the god of their little digital world, and if you didn't want the game, neither you nor anyone else would have pledged one red cent. In our heart of hearts, each of us had already decided to pledge to support the game, the perks associated with higher tiers just sweetened the deal.

 

I'm shocked anyone had to spell this out, its really bloody easy to see that the whole concept of this being some altruistic venture is bullshit and PROVABLY so. There is a button on Kickstarter which says "I don't want to receive any rewards". Hands up ANYONE who pressed it?

 

I made a real snarky sarcastic remark before it became cool in this thread, but deleted it a minute later. Talk about regret - it would have fit right in

 

Please stop misrepresenting my arguments. I did not claim in any way, shape, or form that I don't want this game to happen. I claimed that not everybody pledged solely for the sake of helping the game succeed. Another way of stating this argument, which I presented in no uncertain terms, is that at least some people decided to pledge because they wanted the rewards associated with a particular pledge tier, not because they wanted to throw money at Portalarium. This should not be a totally alien concept. It's how capitalism works.

 

Ok... hands up all those who pledged because they could care less about a game but wanted the pretty pixels badly enough to throw hundreds or thousands of dollars at the POSSIBILITY they might actually get them?

And I likewise thought I pointed out quite clearly that you had to be interested in helping the game succeed to pledge at all, not that you would only throw $$ at something because you wanted the items. I said that you would throw EXTRA money at it for that.

I'm in the same boat, and I know a dozen other people who also are. Actually I'd wager that every single person who currently is a Lord Marshal only upgraded because of the rewards offered at the LM tier. That's a wonderful example.

Actually, he said he pledged to that level because of the perks. Not a valid refute of my position, and neither is your statement. You both state quite clearly why you pledged to a HIGHER LEVEL... not that you wouldn't have pledged at all.
