Perhaps the guards apprehend you and escort you outside the city?

Now that idea is not only fabulous but it also doesn't ruin RP immersion. You are not using a tool that doesn't exist in the game world. You are sending the guards on someone.

So yes you are correct, how they are implemented is the key to this idea.

    This is not completely accurate.
    • Almost every town will have a bank. Banks are local storage.
    • Many towns will have trade districts, so denying access could be harming the economy game play which is just as important as any kind of game play.
Hence whit list bans are off the table.

you are assuming that mass players would be banned, when we are talking about a few undesirables.

That's exactly what I said - not only would I not want to visit this particular POT, but I would be very unlikely to visit any other POT, making player owned towns ghost towns.

End result is people just wouldn't bother going in to your town - all your towns - just in case there was yet another idiot doing sport bannings.

I agree with you 100 percent. She is not explaining her logic very well. Why would someone who invested $1000-$50000 on a town use it as a tool to troll people. Why would someone want to push away customers?

Why would someone waste all that money to not have visitors and live all alone?? Now anyone with an acoount can come to my town and park a gold spammer in my city and leave him there for $25.00.

I don't come from money. I grew up in government housing(ghetto). I have spent 1500 dollars on a city that I had to work for. Nobody gave me this money. Why would I randomly ban people just because?

I don't mind coming on here and having a discussion but its hard to have a discussion where logic and common sense is optional. With that said I am bowing out of this one.

There is nothing to see here "Move along."

I recently thought of a brilliant money making scheme for a large POT with a business district. The POT owner could go to other places and buy up leather goods, bring them to his/her town and sell them at a very high price. And most importantly if anyone else comes in and tries to undercut him, they will get a swift ban.

I am talking about the random guy living in the town doing bannings, not the owner of the POT - or are you saying the only person able to ban would be the town owner?

no the end result is you not visiting the player owned towns, you are assuming others would follow you. The Idea of sport banning is kind of ridiculous really. If some one does this, they deserve to have an empty town. Pretty simple.

sounds like a reason to not shop there, or do business there. Earlier you said there would be player towns everywhere you looked. I would pick another.

If I got banned randomly then other people would also get banned randomly, I never do anything that would make me a target for a ban, so my ban is just as likely to happen to some other random guy.

Word gets out, and everyone knows POTs in general are a waste of a visit because of the ability of plot owners to grief. End result - POTs become ghost towns, which they are already in danger of being anyway, with very minimal NPCs, no quests, same facilities you can get in any larger NPC town, and only some random houses.

All it would take is one or two idiots in a few towns doing sport bannings for this to start having a negative effect on all your player owned towns.

I suggest instead of allowing just any plot owner to ban for the entire town, only the town owner himself can instantly ban (and only for a short period of time).

And to make this ban permanent - the town owner must petition the GMs with a good case for making the ban on that player.

I am sure we will see those people, but their towns end up as ghost towns soon. They will not see much traffic, towns abusing ban feature will end up empty and in most cases it will be what their owners desire for various reasons. I do not think it will be that common besides there will be few dozens of PoTs, it is not that many, so soon everyoen wil learn which are safe to visit.

You ask other people, word of mouth is powerful tool even in online world.

Most players will not have thick skin and will stop playing when it stops being fun. Anyway, the brilliant part of this scheme is that you don't ban everyone, just the ones who get in the way of your cash. Kind of like having your own organised crime game. Treat everyone really nice and build a strong community, but without market competition in a category or two.

Your whole argument is based on speculation that there would be random bannings. The only people that can ban would be the player town owner and a few top officials. I am not going to argue that if they did this it would have repercussions, because it would, for that town, but it would not, at least for me, diminish other player towns. Player towns are not important to your game play anyway, they are in addition to the game and do not affect the game play or mechanics in any way so you have no reason to go there anyway if you choose not to.

Well, white list bans hurt everyone equally except of people living there... and it affect people only in that very small area clkoses to this city. Do not forget there will be NPC towns and player run towns on the map too and those will not ban people.

"If I got banned randomly then other people would also get banned randomly, I never do anything that would make me a target for a ban, so my ban is just as likely to happen to some other random guy."

What? So if I get banned and then other people get banned randomly? Do you mean a poltergeist posses my keyboard and starts banning people randomly, like Beetlejuice?

Ok this is really going into the gutter. Spock we have forsaken you!
