Why do we need a newbie-mega-guild?

    The Hospitaller meeting minutes and the link to join in on the PUBLIC meetings has been posted for many months at:

    There's a meeting today in two-and-a-half hours. I think I'll get rested up beforehand, as I hope all of you commenting here will come and have your say. As will I, who have been a Hospitaller since April, but a player helping others for more than two years.

    Oh dear. I predict that by COB Monday the default guild idea will be scrapped. That's a pity, because:
    - it would have been easier to find and assist new players
    - it would have been possible to broadcast messages to new players only
    - it would have been possible to designate certain buildings as guild chapter houses for new players

    That's cool, i didn't know that for example.
    Non the less that dosen't answer the question why the idea of a new-mega-guild neever made it into the general forum.
    And no i won't have time to attend.
    I am happy for all answers i can get but i basically want them here.

    Indeed.
    But dosen't answer my questions.
    I am sure there are a lot of upsides but you have to deal with the downsides first.

    The hospitallers don't have an answer for it, since none of us recall even asking for the newbie guild XD

    If that would have been Hospitaller teamwork i would have said:
    Guys, you suck at marketing. You should have talked about your idea before in a palce where everybody can see itt and discuss the up and downsides with the wider community.
    **** happens, so let's do it now.

    But now it smells even more like favouritism.

    I believed it came about to avoid creating a newbie global chat, to be supported later by the alliance system. So all guilds could be in an alliance with the newbie guild and therefor help newbies with an alliance chat (or something).

    I just wish the Hospitaller tag was something that was not automatic. Grant it to those who actually participate, and allow it to be trained like emotes. The Hospitallers can get others tagged, without most of the abuse being reported now. Plus, encourage reporting abuse and removing the title from abusers.

    Not sure about the newbie guild. Seems sketchy, and will lijely be nothing but spam. If it has to exist, make it opt-in like the zone chat, and possibly auto-remove players after some amount of time. Again, players can keep inviting other Hospitallers back into the guild to keep it going, but it prevents abuse.

    So who would decide on whether a guild could be in alliance with the newbie guild? Isn't this just global chat via the back door?

    Which would possibly force me to make an alliance with the newb guild without asking me if i ever wanted that.
    And we would have a finaly a world chat, which i abhore.

    This idea just wasn't though through to the end in my opinion.
