So it has been one of those weeks professionally, well a couple of them in fact, and it takes me to a place when you sign up for something and you don't realize what you are getting into. That was for sure the early days of MTV before it ever aired on cable. A new on the scene band was asked to shoot a 'Music Video', their band manager says hey free publicity who knows what this MTV thing will be. What is a music video I dunno, but lets do it. A musical band is now confronted with odd lighting from what would be on stage, along with an odd set and a director telling the band what to do while pretending to play a song.

There are no fans, its a warehouse, its overly hot, this does not set well with the band front lady, but she marches on using every piece of muscle movement in her face to convey her discontent with the whole situation, as she belts the song out. This fiasco becomes the second video ever played on MTV, making Pat Benatar the first woman ever on MTV and her later to be husband Neil Girlado the first guitar player on MTV. While this video was played second, the rawness and toughness would define her for forever and that pissed off look in the video .. its not acting LOL.

Where would youtube be today if not for pioneers like my rock idol Pat Benatar. (okay the 4th or 5th guy might have gotten a clue but it was my girl k ..just saying)

I started to say I had hundreds of things signed .. that is beer, it is actually almost 100 different things signed or gifted to me from her and or band members. my bad, but I have taken 11 unique persons to meet her in various cities .. (my good friends get to go more than once lol).

She is one of the most personable folks, non diva, and sweetest entertainers you could meet, she even once signed a mothers day card for my mom no questions asked. She and Neil also did the avatar's radio promo that I wrote for them without blinking and eye, hell Neil even helped my fumbling with my recorder on my cell phone.

Great salt of the earth folks that happen to entertain millions during their lifetime.
