Explore Novia! - a player event to see the sights!

It was fun guys, glad you made this event. It was the first really social thing I've seen in SOTA thus far!

Hail everyone! R10 is coming up soon (Sep 25-28, 2014).

We tested the Explore Novia! concept in R9 three times. Thanks everyone!

Now, we can do a bit more planning that will help "test" if this is viable for an event series within our community ... and to generate more ideas and have some fun! How can we do this? I suggest:

• Some people prepare themselves as tour guides to take us to interesting places and have a script/description prepared to tell us what we are seeing.
• Remember, in the pre-Alpha Release, we can fictionally create a tour and description to test our ideas.
  • Such as "This is the house that Jack built. It was used in the early days as an underground smuggling headquarters ... look at the historical mess of books and bottles here.")
  • Or, "The FireLotus tavern has a unique history. Let me tell you more about this mug you see over here on this table ... oh... there is the town drunk now! Let's talk to him."
  • Yet, after public release, it would be better if we show people "real" things and "real history" in Novia, such as "this is a replica of the first PaxLair stage where the first PaxLair play "Where there is a Will... " was conducted during the harsh early days."
  • Again, this is not a SotA Walk-through of quests or story-line. This should not contain Spoilers. This is an immersive event to help people learn about Novia, the people, the places, and history -- Just like some of the real-world Explore and Tour programs.
  • It would be great to see someone try out a spooky tour... remember also, Release 11 will occur near Halloween ... so R10 might be a good time to practice a spooky story tour and adjust it for R11.
• I can schedule the Explore Novia! events on the Avatars Circle calendar. There are two versions there now... Central US Time calendar and GMT zone calendar -- so take your pick on which time zone calendar helps you the most.

Please reply here with ideas, questions, what tour you could provide, what tour you would like to go on and see, etc. Thanks!

I wish we could have an Explore Novia! event for Release 10. Does anyone want to run a tour this weekend? It's not hard, and is creative and imaginative and interactive.

The Avatars Circle (AC) Calendar can be used to de-conflict the times, and I and others with AC Calendar powers can put the event on the calendar.

What does anyone/everyone think?

 

How about an Explore Novia! event for Release 11? Anyone interested in attending or leading?

SPOOKY IN BRAEMAR !!​

I have an idea... take people on some Spooky Tour of Braemar -- it could have huge interest, and could make the nightly news!

Storyteller(s) needed -- We need a good ghostly storyteller to take us around and tell us/show us where people are buried, where the murders were, where the ghosts continue to haunt the citizens, what happened, and more!

a. If you are interested in helping, just PM me please. I can help lead the event, but if I am also the storyteller ... hmm ... you might only get the story about how Old Lady Braemar's cow kicked the lantern over in the barn -- Fire Fire Fire! So where are our storytellers?

b. It can be even more interesting if a couple of people get together as storytellers -- we could encounter creatures (avatars) like the Braemar Ghost (if that name is allowed) and the Ghost could tell us spooky tales in some part of the tour.

c. The event time could be Saturday (October 25, 2014) evening (9:30 PM GMT perhaps? -- that's 4:30 PM CDT for the U.S. people). I'll put it on the Avatars Circle Calendar for now to ear-mark the time and day.

... oh Maybe Avatars Radio ( @amberraine @royalsexy ) could play spooky music during that hour of our Explore Novia! event. I don't know how many songs out there are considered ... spooky -- the Monster Mash comes to mind. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monster_Mash

EXPLORE NOVIA! sounds like a great idea Assuming my game doesn't keep crashing like it did in R10 , I will definitely attend

 

I missed out on last time and thought it was a really really great idea.

Does anyone want to lead a tour of Spooky Breamar next Saturday? If not, I will make something up and the show will go on. There's lots of storytellers out there better than me though. I like to tell fish tales. "Oh, that's great! Spooky Fish flopping around in Breamar ... now how did they get here? Ouch, they bite!"
