woot got a Darkstar steam trading card

I'm rich just got the ultra rare Darkstar steam trading card

wonder when they added that to steam and what other cards they have and what do we get when we compleat the set

ya just saw that after i hit the badge progress button would be nice if they actually printed up some those cards maybe eventualy a whole deck

 

So 7 trading cards. Why would one purchase these? I've got a couple of cards from steam over time but never really seen the point. Is it for collection only?

 

Pretty much -- just vanity for your profile more or less.

 

also raises your steam level you can get emotes avatar backgrounds free games etc but mostly vanity yes

and bragging rights look i got a full set of Cap America cards in mint condition soaked in blood

in this case would be full set of Ultima trading cards soaked in Lb's blood

 

People are selling them already.

 

just got a email on SOTA update 102 that tells all about the cards and what you can win

 

I already did cause some of them are going for 5+ 10+ bucks.

The Steam tradition is that you can acquire just under half for free while playing the game. So play the game for a few hours and you will get 3 random cards. To complete a badge of 7, you buy cards from the market or trade with others with cards from other games.

FWIW, I never have time to play my Steam library, but I'm a sucker for Steam trading cards. I frequently have game coupons (or just flat out codes for free Steam games) that I will trade for trading cards. I'm Enderandrew on Steam (as I am everwhere) and you can friend me.

 

well that's if you want to compleat the set in a hurry there is a chance of getting more cards if you log in every day

 

If it is like other Steam games, you stop receiving cards from playing when you reach half. So presumably the most you can get for free from playing is 3.

How can I earn more drops?
You are now eligible for a booster pack
Once you have received all of your card drops, you become eligible for a booster pack containing 3 additional cards. Booster packs are granted randomly to eligible users as more badges are crafted by members of the community. Make sure you log in to Steam each week to maintain eligibility.​

It looks like the max drop for SotA is 4 cards. Every game has the possibility of random booster packs, but from what I've seen those are very rare.
