I'm just curious enough to drop back in

I haven't played for several releases. Mostly due to finding a place to play Warhammer 40k (the hobby side takes a great deal of my free time), but also because I was a little burnt out. Looking at the R13 notes, however, I'm feeling the bug. I'm going to try to free up a few hours this weekend to try it out.

Welcome back docdoom77. I took a step back for a couple of weeks or so myself, yes finally lots of new stuff going on, and you don't want to miss out on anymore rare hats.

I did get fed up for a while, no doubt. And I have even less time than before, but I want to try out all the new shinies.

 

I can get easy to get fed up here.

 

I think it is easy to get burned out on pre-releases, but there is a lot more content in now than before.

 

It's not just pre release that causes that.

 

For me it is the wiping and repeating of the same content. I haven't played much in early pre-releases because I want to maximize how much I enjoy the game at launch. At the same time, I want to keep the community active. And now that I'm submitting writing, I need to try and be as familiar with the setting as possible. So I need to play more.

I was even busier than usual. Christmas, ya know. So I didn't have time to play. Maybe after the holidays.

 

Take up arms again, my friend and fight with us for our just cause - a true, fully fledged single player experience for SotA!

 

I do still believe that is coming.

 

I honestly don't know what to believe anymore.

 

The PvP players kept saying that since PvP wasn't in the early releases CLEARLY that meant it was never coming, no designer had ever given it any thought and they were lied to.

I kept trying to calm them down as the voice of reason that you need underlying systems (such as baseline combat) first. And sure enough, one basic combat was in place they implemented PvP. And each release they try to improve it.

We've been told repeatedly that quests, the story line and most of the single player content will be the last thing implemented. The devs have kept all their other promises. We know they're keeping the story under wraps and it is just a matter of building systems on top of other systems.

 

Yeah, I agree with most of that.

No fault of docdoom77's, I see where this thread is starting to head down a path of no return. There has been a good deal of work that has gone into the single player mode and the development team has been very vocal about why you are not necessarily seeing it in-game. Suggesting or insinuating anything otherwise will not be tolerated. I will post two of Lord British's responses in regard to the single player experience:
