    RIP. :(

I remember when I was working on my science fiction comedy, Star Trek was a huge inspiration and I loved Leonard Nemoy as Spock. He was certainly an excellent actor. He will be missed.

There is always a light in the dark .
Its always so great to see .
That those who lived the fullest die in peace .
    They don't fear death
They are grateful they had the privilege to live .

    Amor fati.

Leonard your last words are so logical to me .

Another hero gone. People like him or Robin Williams leaving is like letting more and more go from a world i feld comtable and attached with. We are getting old and the World is more and more a unknown place.

Thx for being a part of our lives Leonard

i was thinking exactly this. i honestly have to say that watching Star Trek as a kid opened my mind up to the "what if's" and made it OK to be a nerd.
A Hero among us has died today. but let us not mourn. Let us not weep. Let us celebrate this great man and leader! Let us tip our mugs and raise them in a cheer! Mr. Spock, you now have the captains chair!

I also watched it when it first came out, although a little younger than you. It was Star Trek that got me interested in space exploration.

    Sad day, indeed.
If you go back (hello, Youtube) and watch some of his old interviews,
especially the ones where Shatnar was there as well, you get a real
sense of his personality. He wasn't the prideful "give me the
limelight" type; he was well-spoken, jovial, and- as stated above-
    very much a gentleman.

But Spock... he brought that character to life for us, especially us
old folks. And like all geeks, we resonated with that character
and what he stood for. It was nice to have an "icon" that stood
for logical, rational, thought and action. He was different than
those around him with his weird, pointy ears and his love
of knowledge, a nod to all the nerds growing up "different"
than their cooler classmates; but time and again that difference
was shown to be not only helpful to the community, but necessary.

Nimoy, and his on-screen/off-screen persona, Mr. Spock, will
    be deeply missed.

I never met Leonard Nimoy, but from what little I have read of him, he seemed like a man who lived up to his character's catch phrase.

    "Live long and prosper."

    He most certainly did.

    Auf wiedersehen Nimoy.

Nimoy was one of my heros, I have few. He wrote a book called "I am Spock" then wrote another called "I am not Spock", funny guy. I was a big fan of his work from "In Search Of" to Star Trek even though I was never a big Trek fan. I even dressed up as Spock on Halloween a good 10 years ago. I'll miss him but he did live a good life and age. He tweeted not too long ago how he wish he never started smoking, so for any smokers or non-smokers out there I'd take his advice. He will be missed.

east coast MeTV airs st:tos every saturday at 9pm. i think in my cable package, its the only time st:tos runs ever - tonight they scrubbed the show scheduled and are airing the one where spock and kirk fight over tpang. its a good episode, but not what i would say is the best showcase of what LM brought to Spock.... Still, a memorial page before the show, all nice touches.

and sunday at 8, a showing of a lot of his other movie appearances.
