I was messing around in Photoshop trying to see what SotA would look like with a crosshair for Free Attack and a few other UI tweaks. Check it out!

Could be cool, right? I figure the crosshair wouldn't be there the entire time. Perhaps only when weapons are drawn and you are holding down right-mouse (camera-look). I removed the targeting outline and used a soft overlay instead on the soft-targeted Large Coyote. Just to pop'm out a little.

Using a UI element we already have, I thought it'd be interesting to pull Health and Focus closer to us as well, similar to Torchlight I's interface.

Anyways, just thought I'd share. :D

Not bad. I prefer the "globe" health/mana instead of just bars. I could take or leave the crosshairs, as I don't see any real benefit to it with the current implementation.

I kinda like crosshairs or some interation of them. The one in the picture is nice and small also, I wouldn't mind something like that. Also since some don't like crosshairs perhaps they can be turned off or on. When I am playing a game I just get use to whatever is there, but on a finished game what else can you do;)

That looks pretty good Crazy Phil, not to obtrusive and not "gun crosshair like" so seems to fit more with the genre somehow. Nice, I like it at least :)

I really like the health/focus globe, its handy since I spend a lot of time looking at my cards doing the random shuffle thingy. Good job!

Well the only thing is if you wan't your bar to disappear sometimes for some reason decorating or socializing then your health globe would go away also if connected to the bar, not that you would need it if socializing in town, but just a thought. I'd like to know if I was having health issues.:)

I like the tweak over the healthbar in the globe. However i'm not a fan over the whole 'crosshair' targeting system, in fact I don't tend to play MMO type games that use them........way too annoying.

Yeah, I'm really digging the centralized Health/Focus Globe myself. When making and sizing the crosshair, I pulled ideas from Tera, Tabula Rasa, DDO, and Ultima 9:

    Fun little experiment. :)

Very nice! I love how you have given the option to use letter keys in conjunction with number keys allowing for more skills to be used.

I really love what you did with the health and focus bar, I hope we end up with something similar when the UI gets an overhaul before launch, it would be nice to get away from the now standard and very generic health bar in the top left corner of the screen.

The crosshair is fine also just as long as it’s not there in non-combat modes.

Hopefully this thread will spark some great ideas from the community about the UI that inspire the devs to develop something unique, as signature if you like, thanks for starting this Crazy Phil!

Just need to add in the buffs and debuffs, and how they would be displayed.

For my taste there are still too many bars, windows etc.

This is still my preferred UI:

Absolutely love the image. Great job. I really like the globe as well. Seems we all like that. Majoria has a good point though. Surely if you remove the UI then any indication of health goes away as does all UI, say for taking pictures. But, I would say the old style bars could come into play for indicating team mates health. It would be nice if they were less intrusive and obvious than our health. Ideally all locking one under another and in a moveable, transparent table.

Love the image. Can't say it enough.

These keybinds are actually how I play SotA currently. For those interested, you can set them up in the Controls menu. I got the idea of "QERFC 12345" from games like Bloodline Champions and Dead Island: Epidemic. They also use Left Mouse Button for their "Free Attack". I use Z to unsheathe my weapons and X to combo. :)

It must be really hard to find MMO with no crosshair system.

Guild Wars 2 stacks them to the right of their Health globe. Perhaps we could try something similar? Then the left side could be used for Pet command bindings... or maybe even customizable EverQuest style macro bindings for things like Emotes! ;)

    I'll do another mock-up when I get a spare moment. Weeee! :D

I added the buffs. The image might need to be reloaded in order to see them:
