I'm not sure if this is the case for any other folks, but for me I don't see a reason to buy one of these pipes instead of just crafting my own basic one to use for the emote. Please don't take that the wrong way, hear me out. Unless each pipe had a different smoke effect much like the tobacco we had in Lotro that gave different smoke rings(my fav being the smoke ring with a ship sailing through it), or if they blew different colors of smoke or something. Or could incorporate agriculture tobacco that could be used with different pipes. Something like that could give me reason to collect my favorites of them I think.

 

Loved smoking in LOTRO... Loved how they had effects.. We def need some Pipeweed

 

That's a fantastic question,...and I truly have no idea... I'm betting individually, at first,...and then possibly later as a special of some kind, much like the "Prosperity Items" and such....

I can see what you mean about creating "pipe-style-exclusive" effects... That may be something to consider for later,...but for now, the basic emotes, I'm assuming, will apply to all of them... For the time being, as in the regular world, the only real benefit to having a different-looking pipe...is that you get to be seen smoking a different looking pipe... Heh! ^_^

 

Okay, keep in mind though that long stemmed pipes can be ornate also

Anyway, out of curiosity I was also digging around looking for what type of pipes kobolds might smoke !

The first thing I looked up was steampunk pipes... and I found these electronic "pepperpot" pipes on some seller that use brass piping,


Though I found some brass Chinese pipes as well,


Including some brass pipes of a different nature (opium pipes, water pipes), for inspiration,

For $70 I can get 8 pipes. 1 of which I can display on my avatar.
For $70 I can get 84 cactus to decorate with.

It seems like getting a deco item and a character item for either $5 for some pipes and $10 for others would actually fit into some sort of sane price structure. I'd buy some pipes if I could decorate with them.
