New player questions

Hi all,

I am new to SotA (2 days), I really love this game as it is similar to UO.
I have some skill and stat. (str/dex/int) questions, please help me out.

1. I found that skill settings can be level up/down/hold.
Will there are skill caps?
When casting, why I will spent points from skill pool even I set hold?
Some main-root skill can be set as arrow up but draw from pool to maintenance skill, I don't understand what does it mean.

2. stat. (str/dex/int)
I am a fighter at the moment, but I only gained up to 19 str. I wondering how to build up dex?
Will I have chance to gain str/dex/int when I use skill while skill gaining (draw from skill pool)?

3. Housing
Lot and Deed system is very hard for me to understand. (I am not good at English)
How to buy a house?
Why some place has house on sale? Why some on a field for sale?
Also what is raffle ticket and where to find it?

Can any guide me please?

skills set to gain (up arrow) will take exp from your pool each time a relevant skill is used and it will level up, skills set to maintain will only take exp from your pool when they are affected by skill decay on death.

Strength and dexterity will both level up from pretty much any combat skill used.

Lottery is the only way to obtain a deed in game unless you buy from another player. If you go to your bank and click "claim rewards" this release only, you should get a free ticket. Extra tickets can be purchased from the realestate NPC merchants like the one above the bank in Owlshead.

no hard caps, but
a: each level takes more xp, so eventually it's not worth it for a small gain
b: there's decay being introduced tomorrow that will draw a bit from your xp pool when you die, and if there's not enough in your pool, it will hit your skills.
this will have the effect of making very high levels hard to achieve and hard to maintain.
when you set arrow up to maintain, you're telling it not to look at those skills for decay unless there's no other source.

if i have flame fist locked, and cast it, i still might spend some xp on skills that level every time you cast anything if they're not locked too. for instance, casting flame fist would raise train int.

to gain dex, you will have to unlock distract in the subterfuge tree. train dex is below it.

yes, and that's the source of you losing xp when you use a skill that's locked.

when you see a lot sign (or stone) that says for sale, it's not really the house for sale. it's saying the lot is available to claim if you have a deed.

some towns display default houses on unclaimed lots to make them look full. some towns just show an empty area. it's an unclaimed lot either way.

you need a lot deed to claim a lot, that's what the raffle ticket is for. you can also get them through bundles on the web site. you may find some for sale with gold by other players in game.

once you have a lot deed and claim an empty lot, you can put up a house if you have one, or you can just use it as an empty lot. some people like to build outdoors. there are houses for sale on housing vendors, in bundles on the website, and from other players.

edit to add that row lots do come with a free house.
