I Need an Agriculture timer o_O...

A time piece or when you hover the mouse over a plant it could say the "approximate time" of how long it looks like it needs it's next watering done.
    • Looks well watered. (just after watering)
    • Looks wet. (3/4 full time)
    • Looks moist. (1/2 full time)
    • Looks almost dry. (1/4 full time)
    • Looks dry. (1 hour before it need to be watered again)
    • Looks parched (ready for watering)
Something like that or maybe by number percentage % o_O

Or, (this being a SteamPunk kind of style) an actual timer that could be set and then set on a shelf inside or outside on your lot or inside your home. We could have one which could be set for each type of plant we plant, or have many which could be set to each type of plant.

Or we could have an entire set which could be sold in our Add-On Store o_O~Time Lord~

I set a couple of timers on my phone after planting, having one in game would be helpful if you happen to be logged in but then you could miss a watering window if you're not.
    Code:
                Cost Water Each* Yield Vendor
    Carrot 8 4h 8 2
    Garlic 8 4h 8 2
    Lettuce 8 4h 8 2
    Pepper 8 4h 8 2
    Potato 8 4h 8 2
    Pumpkin 6 4h 4 3
    Tomato 8 4h 8 2

    Roses 10 4h 7 1

    Banana 16 8h 16 2
    Corn 16 8h 16 2
    Lemon 16 8h 16 2

 One stumbling block to this though o_O...
"A thing I'd like to see changed or added, Growth vs Production Yield"

The planters all have a growth value listed on them. This indicates to me that possibly higher crafted planters would have higher growth values. I'd rather that a higher valued/quality container yield more produce instead of adding to growth rate. My reasoning in that, is that I haven't read where many people value speed of growth. We have our greenhouse effects for increased growth rates, yet we have only the hopes that fertilizer will create more yield (that's a hope for effect and not a known effect to be caused by applying it).

    The way I see it, the faster the plants could grow, the more that needs a more constant attendance by the agriculturist. We will have 6 (maybe 7) adjusting factors in agriculture that we thus far know of;
    • Water + production
    • Greenhouse + growth
    • Planter + growth
    • Fertilizer ?
    • Skill ?
    • Season ?
    • (possibly) Tool ?
It's an interesting subject I think, because we must look at what we want if we are to suggest anything be added or subtracted and before it arrives would be a good time to hear any new ideas ;) With these new additions coming soon, the timers and times will all have to be re-adjusted that we know of right now.

Yea, I made a post about this a month or so ago, asking for better tooltip info.

But, in the meantime, I've found that someone else already provided a great tool to keep track...

Sunlamps would be nice addition... only effect plants under their light. And allow basement planting...

How about propagation? Snip a 3/4 mature plant top, lose a yield but save needing a seed. (treat a propagation like a seed)

    I wholeheartedly agree I need a timer

I'm curious about watering times... if I water just before the end of a cycle can I then water a minute later at beginning of the next water cycle?

The way I first plant, is to water+ seed= plant + water so I can get that first watering done as soon as it's planted. If anything is dry, I water it. If I manage to do all my planting in one crop and make a single effort to plant them all at once, this makes it much easier because they all need watering at any single time. So, if you water again immediately after planting, then you only need to water 2 more times. It doesn't matter when you water, as long as it's before the plant grows again. I just find it more easy and takes less time if I only plant a single seed crop all at once.

I just finished planting 700 plants all in large and medium planters on my town lot which has no house on it. I planted it all in coconuts because it's easy to see the water under them. But they are now all on the same timer, which saves time and streamlines the proses.

On a place like your town lot with the row home, if you are hunting and then returning home each time, I think your planting cycles will be much more easy to catch if they're outside. Then it's gets easier to catch the watering times if you grow them in the basement which extends the cycle, yet within the green house, it becomes a hassle with the shorter cycled crops. I will be using my basements for the short cycle crops because I have a monstrous amount of crops on 5 properties, which takes allot of my time. I suggest that the longer cycle crops would be much easier to manage inside the green house, then the next faster cycle crop for the outside and the very short cycled for the inside house or the basement.

To me, it's all about the ease at which I can time manage it all, though I'm still scatter brained from the amounts I'm growing. ~TL~

    yes!

i sometimes water and can harvest 5 minutes later, because i watered just 5 minutes before the timer for last watering ended.
    same for in between watering.

I think so. I watered a bed of garlic a few days ago and 10 minutes later than asked for more.

Perhaps some water clocks you fill it with water that slowly pours out. Make the container have 4 different segments with different colour

It really took them a long time to get agriculture some loving and work. Even the 'wet look' was inconsistent at first.
Now that we do have a batch system working, it is so much better than before.
Now I want batch gathering of water. It takes about an hour to gather 350 buckets, pressing "E".......... I watch a movie, or read a book.

You can already plant in a basement, just takes 10X as long, just like indoors.
I see that as an advantage as I do not have to set my alarm clock for watering times, and if I miss a day or so, it does not hurt my yield.
It gives me plenty of game time in between, and if nothing else I can log in, get my 10K bonus, get my Oracle daily, and water/harvest/plant whatever is due.

A 5 story stone row basement will grow over 200 plants.
The wooden 5 story has stairs that get in the way.
