A true classic sung by Donny Gerrard and a pair of the best backup singers you'll ever hear.

Who recorded the song Wildflower ?

“Wildflower” was a Top 40 hit on BillBoard chart with the group Skylark. You wrote the lyrics, how did you got the inspiration ?

In 1970 I was dating a nurse, whom I would eventually marry in 1971 (it only lasted four years, though – we were both not ready for such a commitment). One night I went to pick her up at her apartment, as we had planned on going out. When she opened the door I saw that she was upset to the point of tears. She still had a housecoat on and had her hair wrapped in a towel after a shower. She told me that two elderly ladies she had been caring for in the hospital had died that day at work, and she felt terribly sad about it, as she had come to know them fairly well over a period of time. Anyway, she more or less vented her feelings and I just listened. After she was finished, she thanked me for listening, and said she would get ready for our date. She went into the bedroom and closed the door, and I sat and watched TV waiting for her to come out. When she didn’t return, I knocked on the door but she didn’t answer, so I went in to find her fast asleep on the bed, still in her housecoat and with the towel still wrapped around her head. I guess she was just exhausted after her emotional day. So, I put a blanket over her, being careful not to wake her, and went home and wrote the song in about fifteen minutes or so. It was absolutely inspired. I have always felt that all I did was hold the pen in my hand, and that God did the writing. The “Be careful how you touch her, for she’ll awaken” part, refers to when I put the blanket over her. “The way she’s always paying, for a debt she never owes…” – It wasn’t her fault that the two ladies had died, and yet she felt so badly for them that she was crying.

In February 2015, McLean announced he would reveal the meaning of the lyrics to the song when the original manuscript went for auction in New York City, in April 2015.[19] The lyrics and notes were auctioned on April 7, and sold for $1.2 million.[20] In the sale catalogue notes, McLean revealed the meaning in the song's lyrics: "Basically in American Pie things are heading in the wrong direction. ... It [life] is becoming less idyllic. I don't know whether you consider that wrong or right but it is a morality song in a sense."[21] The catalogue confirmed some of the better known references in the song's lyrics, including mentions of Elvis Presley ("the king") and Bob Dylan ("the jester"), and confirmed that the song culminates with a near-verbatim description of the death of Meredith Hunter at the Altamont Free Concert, ten years after the plane crash that killed Holly, Valens, and Richardson.[21]

I was working on a video for poisons today and of course ABC, shoot that poison arrow through my heart came to mind, but archers cannot use poison, Halestorm Familiar taste of poison also sprung to mind with out a google search, but my heart came to rest on Lita Ford and -Shot of poison. That then took me on yet another tangent and my rock and roll porn and the best buttocks in leather I have ever seen, which was Lita Ford. Which if you look at this video, you will see this "band hat" which is so very much similar to the fancy band hat we can craft in game, which I have seen Lita Ford from this video wear, as well as Grace Jones. They are part of Lace's wardrobe inspirations.

Lita Ford at about 1:53 and several times beyond you will see Lace's inspirational hat. I also have pictures of her in similar hats from my late teens when dating a rolling stone photographer lol! .. Free concerts were good perks!

Footnote if you don't know Lita Ford, and Joan Jett were 2 of the Runaways that kinda put women in rock on the map and the 2 that happened to go on to have solo careers. While my girl Pat Benatar also helped pave the way, Lita and Joan kinda were a bit first in their teens doing it.
