I'm still wondering how those magical machineguns mounted in the front of that Star Citizen Blimp are going to play into all of this.... and how I can't seem to even build a musket here ...yet! :p

At least someone here is familiar with Star Trek Voyager :D. Would definitely agree with your comment.

Reminds me of the episode "The Year of Hell" from season 4.

I was almost done with a Voyager binge when I started playing SotA... was 1/3 through the final season. And was playing that Timelines game too. I think I'm gonna subscribe to the new series next year.

Not a big fan of the JJ Abrams movies though.

Don't get me started on Jar Jar Abrams Star Trek movies
That being said, I watched Star Trek Voyager when it came out in 95, and was a loyal follower of the series.
I'm on the fence about the new series. We will see.

They do make it home at the end. Nice finale with the Borg.

Yup... 95. I was a freshman in college... only made it a few episodes until other interests overtook my Friday nights. Never saw the rest of the series until this year. Or Enterprise either.

I'm interested to know what you've heard about the new series, but I don't want to derail my own thread with it... lol

Well, I can tell you that the series is probably delayed till the summer because of a lawsuit case between CBS and Axanar studios (for those who are familiar with the 20 minute video, which was to then be filmed as a 2 hour movie - I backed that project BTW). It is supposed to take place about 20 years prior to Star Trek TOS, which coincidentally, is when Axanar takes place. Hmmm.

Edit: Also, they did a redesign of the Nacelle on the star ship Discovery.

You mean the giant ants? Pretty sure they were called something else. :) Though the actual name escapes me.

Huh are you sure it is still going forward? I read that the suit was dropped.. freaking lawyers.

Although I not too long ago learned that, according to U.S. copyright law, if an IP owner basically doesn't aggressively defend their property rights, they are vulnerable to losing them altogether. The whole system is screwy and basically only benefits attorneys collecting huge fees...

Incidentally that's part of why I'm fairly sure that the events of SotA must follow from an "alternate" version of U9 and not the "official" version. EA attorneys would pounce at any opportunity to sue.

Oh no, it is in full swing. They are presently in 'discovery'. ( I believe you understand that term ). Yes, it was announced in may that the lawsuit was dropped. This was a lie. CBS never dropped anything.
Stay tuned. This whole thing is getting very interesting right now.

Edit: Still reading the Axanar blog on this lawsuit. And since someone else is also following this, I will let you read it here.

I could barely stomach a few paragraphs. These idiotic copyright laws are supposed to incentivise creative efforts, but they typically end up doing the opposite.

Don't those morons over at CBS/Paramount understand that they are alienating their own fanbase?

Your last statement is spot on. Many of us feel exactly the same way, including myself. CBS had a golden opportunity to work with the fans here, but instead, have decided to drive a 'stake' into those who have kept Star Trek going very strongly. It seems incredibly idiotic of CBS to do this to their fanbase. I just don't understand their mentality.

Edit: The 50th anniversary was supposed to be a special occasion, but instead ended up as a fizzle. I am one very disappointed star trek fan :(

Ditto. Savage Empire was an excellent game. Martian Dreams I had a difficult time really getting into it.

I believe they are suffering from a chronic case of cranialrectal inversion secondary to an overdose of corporate Kool-Aid. (Hopefully Kraft doesn't sue me for using the term Kool-Aid without their express written consent.)

Ah not necessarily. SotA lore is intentionally vague but there are enough hints already existing in the game that if you know U9 well enough you can figure out what happened. What finally did it for me was the obsidian forge and suddenly it all made sense. :) But I wouldn't explain it all in the forum. Feel free to PM me. ;) One thing Portalarium has made good use of is the fact that there's a LOT in Ultima that can't really be protected by copyright. The concept of the virtues for example.. you can't copyright truth, love and courage.

Nice way of wording it :D. I agree. I wouldn't worry about the use of the brand name Kool-Aid here. If it were an issue, I'm certain that Time Lord would be dealing with a lawsuit by now.:p

I already figured out the Obsidian forge part. Looks very familiar ;)
I wonder if the Obsidian Order understood the power of that artifact?
