A special thank you .....

Members of Phoenix Republic and Jade Valley guilds and several individuals all took part in the development, construction, and staging of the Rock Me Avatarus Party Showcase Contest entry, submitted by Grimace from Phoenix Republic. Everyone involved donated supplies and time to make this all possible. We would like to give special thanks to Stryker Sparhawk for allowing us to use his town, Dark Hart, and also, Mal Hari for allowing us to use his lot deeds so we could pull this off. The original spaced-themed concept was suggested by Stella Moon; however, Mal Hari kick started the entire project by constructing the rocket, and everything fell into place after that.

Even though we came in 2nd place, we hope it was a pleasureable venture for us all.

For the contest, we were allowed to submit 5 screenshots and we had many to choose from. It was a very difficult choice. In fact, one of us had taken 200 shots alone. Following are pictures taken of our party scene, which were not included in the contest entry, but would like to share them with you.

We had a lavish dinner spread out, fit for a king or better yet, Lord British.


Stella Moon at the Happy Birthday Lord British scene spelled out in cheese that was originally set up by Stella Moon, but meticulously arranged by Ashley Starsapphire. She did a fantastic job. Why cheese? Because the moon is made of cheese, of course!!


....and the grand finale.... get ready for blast off!!!!!! This awesome effect was provided by Sher Shadowleaf's Ring of Fire spell.

 

It was a good time. I only wish that I could have been there for more than the setup.

 

It was a lot of work, but also a lot of fun!

I can't thank you enough for your hard work and generosity. It was a cosmic moment with friends, which I will remember for a long time to come.

 

It is always an honor and privilege and even a bit humbling, to work with such talented and wonderful people. I had a lot of fun participating and helping build the "moon buggy".. might I say, it was "Out of the world" . Thank you for letting me be a part of this wonderful project, I look forward to the next one.

 

I loved the moon buggy. Now, I want to build a garage with a moon buggy parked inside. We should name it the "Addy".

 

Congrats to your entire team for putting together such a fantastic entry! I'm going to tweet this thread out to further recognize all this effort. Well done!!

It was great fun! It was great to see all the creative minds put this together!

Easter eggs:
The use of cheese because of the 'moon is made of cheese' trope
A fuel line actually ran from the outhouse to the rocket

One of the ideas was an attempt to first make the rover a replica of Richard's Lunokhod 2, but the kettle drum was not of a big enough scale to do it justice.

 

Troll sized kettle drum requested.

 

The current kettle drum is actually a troll bongo.

LOL, love your GIF!!! That moon buggy was the brainchild of Lady Addy and Stryker Sparhawk. Many of us enjoyed going for rides in it. So much fun!!!

 

Well I particularly like that you accomplished it in an underground POT Sort of your own personal SOTA underground missile silo I think that underground POTs haven't truly seen their hay day yet as many are abandon holes in the ground. I just finished what I could do with my underground menagerie called The Time Tunnel, but I dare say it's nothing as artistic as yours. There wasn't anyone living down there, so I decided to take 2 town and 3 village lots and combine them into one large Elven styled agriculture complex. It's nested in Wizards Rest visually close to it's entrance. I haven't got it all planted yet and there's virtually no furnishings inside the homes, but it's a work in progress Maybe you and your band could give me some good ideas... "so I'll keep watching"... @Time Lord, I've often wondered about the Time Tunnel. I've noticed people on my friends list are there sometimes. I would like to grab a few friends for a field trip some time soon. I just can't get enough of the glowing mushrooms!

 

@Barugon, That moon buggy was a trip. I wish you could have seen it in person, but perhaps @Stryker Sparhawk and @Lady Adnor will assemble another one.
