Am I the only one totally failing at captcha?

    If I can read it in 3 tries it is a good day usually it is 5-7

    I'm still lobbying for re-Captcha... compared to the one they're using, I think re-Captcha is more user friendly...

    It is pretty bad.. a lot of times I can't tell what case certain letters are. If the whole point is prevent bots then I don't see why they have to make it hard to read.

    Because then the bots will fail at pattern recognition of the typeface, forcing spammers to hire humans that take too long to retry getting in, thus making the effort unprofitable and the spammers give up....

    There's more than one "captcha" app. The graphics in the one Port is using is quite bad, and I'm hoping they'll get another.
    I ran across one the other day on a site, and it uses images that look like the numbers on a house sign. It was easy to read.

    Never heard of bots using pattern recognition before. Someone actually went through the trouble of going that far?

    Trouble? Challenge you mean?
    Spam bots surely can read those and its considered mostly harmful for human users only. Machines can go through those easily. Google created a good captcha, it uses clever tricks, that prevent bots to fake it and its dead simple to use as a human. You just click the button "I'm not a robot" and its done. https://www.google.com/recaptcha/intro/index.html

    I would say it takes me at least 2 and up to 4 tries to get it right. I am just waiting for the day I'm REALLY bad and my account gets locked. Waaaaaaah.
